A major milestone for paediatric surgery at Leeds Children's Hospital
The Laparo Apex surgical simulator, funded by our first Clay Day and grants from the Yorkshire Property Charitable Trust and the Kusuma Trust, is now training surgeons in Leeds.

At Luma Foundation our mission has always been to support cutting-edge medical technology that transforms patient care. Today we are thrilled to share that the Laparo Apex is in place at Leeds Children's Hospital.
The state-of-the-art simulator, which cost £100,000, was made possible by the £78,000 raised at our inaugural Charity Clay Day together with generous grants from the Yorkshire Property Charitable Trust and the Kusuma Trust.
The Apex allows surgeons to practise minimal access, or keyhole, surgery in a hybrid of virtual reality and hands-on modules before they operate on a child. It will improve surgical precision, reduce operation times and speed up recovery for young patients across Yorkshire, and it strengthens Leeds' position as the UK's leading centre for paediatric robotic and keyhole surgery training.
