Luma Foundation is the new name for a charity that has supported Yorkshire's children's wards since 1989. We only fund technology the NHS cannot, and we report back on exactly what every pound bought.

Where we work
Two of the country's leading children's hospitals, both in Yorkshire.
Leeds and Sheffield treat children from every corner of the county and, increasingly, from across the UK. We work directly with their clinical teams.

Leeds Children's Hospital
The UK's only functioning and training centre for paediatric robotic surgery, with 286 beds and eight dedicated children's operating theatres.
Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust
Sheffield Children's Hospital
One of only three standalone children's hospitals in the UK, and home to the nanopore sequencing programme we funded in 2026.
Our signature event
The Charity Clay Day
Each June, thirty teams from Yorkshire's business community gather in the North York Moors for a day of shooting, a long lunch and an auction. Every penny goes to equipment.

Every pound buys equipment. Nothing is wasted on the way.
We are a lean charity run by a small team and volunteer trustees. Donations go to the hospitals' own charities to buy equipment through NHS procurement, and we tell you exactly what your money bought.
